Lucas’ first Math tutoring experience started when he was in Grade 11 in Toronto, ON. He performed well in his class and the department recommended him to the guidance office. At lunch and after school, he offered homework help to Grade 9 and 10 students.
In Grade 12, he took a credit course called Peer Helping, provided by the Special Education Department. As part of the program, he was invited by the Math department to provide extra help to students in the classroom, as well as occasional instructor in Math classes.
In the same year, he started a tutoring club in his school. He was the lead of the club and he reported directly the guidance counselors and the principal. The mandate of the club was to provide peer helping and tutoring to those who need extra assistance outside the classroom. He helped over 50 students in his school and it was a success.

His tutoring practice continued when he was in Year 3 at university. He was hired by three education centres in Toronto, where he tutored Grade 3 - Grade 8 on weekends, and Grade 9 - 12 on weekday evenings. Good words about his Math tutoring skills spread around the centres, and he received lots of students. After a few months, he had to leave because he had to return to the university. He was asked by the centres to do part-time tutoring on weekends.
He started private tutoring in Ottawa in 2002. Although his education background is Engineering, Math and Physics, he chose to tutor Math only because of his vast experience in Math tutoring. He is pleased to be able to make referrals to other tutors interested in tutoring. Tutoring is a wonderful experience for those who are considering teaching as a career. He is extremely satisfied when he sees he can make a difference to a student and the community as a whole.
Mathematics should unlock the student's curiosity, creativity and ambition. Success might depend a little on ability, but that success depends more on personal initiative and hard work. He is student-oriented and will help and guide you to solve Math problems analytically and systematically.
